Becki Newton
Becki was born and raised on the island of Guilford (Connecticut) but she is originally from New Haven. She is of English as well as Czech descent. She began putting on musicals and plays at local theaters. She later attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned an B.A. European History. Newton became a member of to the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at Penn. Newton was transferred from Penn to New York City after graduation and was able to work in television commercials, including for Olive Garden. Newton performed the role of Amanda Tanen on the comedy-drama Ugly Betty series from 2006 until 2010. Alongside co-star Michael Urie, Newton co-hosted the Official Ugly Betty Podcast. Also, she appeared in ABC.com ?Ts Mode After Hours Webisode The Series. Ugly Betty was canceled in 2010 after four successful seasons that allowed the show a proper series finale. Newton was a guest at the New York City Center's Encores show in the late 2009. Jerry Zaks directed the Gershwin musical Girl Crazy. Her partner Chris Diamantopoulos performed with her in the role of Molly Gray. Newton played the role of Molly Gray in the television show Love Bites. Cindy Chupack created the hour-long romantic comedy. She worked as an executive producer for Sex and the City. NBC confirmed the renewal of the show in May 2010.However the show was cancelled due to Newton announcing her pregnancy, co-star Jordana Spiro contractually obligated to remain on her previous series My Boys (which was later canceled) as well as Chupack's wish to end the series, Love Bites was pushed back to mid-season.
